the sweetest of joys...

One of the sweetest of joys for me at Christmas time is the beautiful wrapping of gifts, immaculate ribbons and sweet little tags to match.

The other sweetest joy is long hot lazy Christmas days where we all nod off on the couch and then wake ourselves back up in the pool, where we eat wonderful food followed by Mums famous sticky date pudding. Where we make the biggest mess in the living room with wrappings and ribbons and all sorts of Christmas odds and ends, Where we bake all sorts of sweet treats and eat left over ham for a week.

But my all time favourite Christmas joy is spending time with family, the sharing of laughter and counting our blessings to be surrounded by so many special people. So goodbye sweet friends, this blog will be on a little holiday for a few days while we celebrate and enjoy the company of those we love.

May you have the most magical Christmas - may it be filled with laughter and cheer, beautiful wrappings and the sweetest of families.

yannick & steve wedding stationery

Todays wedding set is a gorgeously feminine invitation set we recently designed and printed for Yannick & Steve. Their brief was for a romantically elegant floral invitation, with the wedding theme inspired by the gorgeous floral colours and styling of the Elizabeth Ardens floral adverting for their perfume “Pretty”.

Our design featured our favourite Peonies flowers printed in soft tones of blush pink for an elegant vintage feel. The traditional style serif text was printed in plum for a pink on plum effect.

As an extra special feature, we designed the envelopes to feature the peonie flower which wraps across the rear flap of the envelope and over across the envelope to sneak its way also onto the front. A gorgeous effect and so very perfectly suited to this sweet romantic couple!

nicola & john wedding stationery

Todays featured wedding set is a gorgeous one colour invitation + lined envelope set completed for Nicola & John who are getting married at the incredible Doltone House at Jones Bay Warm in Pyrmont Sydney.

Their brief was for a very simple, clean invitation with gorgeous typography to reflect their stunning wedding venue which was an historical industrial area which has undergone an amazing contemporary restoration. The loft design incorporates existing timber beams and a blend of heritage and contemporary features which we reflected through the use of vintage typefaces, contemporary layout and the use of vintage flourish elements. Printed in caramel ink on ivory stock, each invitation was individually personalised and inserted into a gorgeous hand lined and letterrpress printed envelope.

The stunning Carriageworks venue. We could have spent all day admiring those beautiful windows, the random sections of gelato green painted walls, beautifully old rusted metalwork and the beautiful surprise of Craft Schmaft's bright yellow balloons amongst it all.

Oh my, what an amazing weekend we had in Sydney last week at the Finders Keepers. The most amazing venue, plenty of hugely inspiring talent and gorgeously happy shoppers. We couldn't have had a better time if we tried... Well okay, maybe we could have had a few drinks from the bar, but apparently that's not very professional... Although, our neighbours across the way did try and convince us otherwise!!

I hope you enjoy our photos of the amazing Carriageworks venue and oh my, how we love the Finders Keepers - thankyou Brooke & Sarah, you are the sweetest design event ladies ever. xox

david & kimberlee wedding stationery

Last week we gave you a little sneak preview of a gorgeously simple wedding set we have recently printed. Designed for David & Kimberlee, this Brisbane couple are having an elegant and understated dinner reception at the famed Giannis Restaurant. We were quite excited to work with this couple as they had a fabulous understanding of typography which allowed us to design something truly spectacular.

Inspired by calling cards of yesteryear, we designed their invitation with beautiful typography which we typeset in lowercase to compliment the vintage art deco red motif. By using large areas of negative space around the card it creates an sense of sophistication and an air of elegance, and allows for the most amazing impression into the paper. The classic colour palette of black and deep red printed on ivory stock is one of our favourite combinations.

Such a beautifully simple, yet incredibly tactile invitation set. We hope that David & Kimberlee have fun sending these little beauties out into the world!!
